Pakistani students win int’l award with film on drone attacks
A short film by two Pakistani students on US drone attacks in Pakistan and their impact on society has won an international film award, however they were refused US visa to receive the award in Washington.

Pakistani cotton scientist declared the world’s best in 2012
A Pakistan-based scientist has been honoured by the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC), the body said in a statement released this week.
Dr Yusuf Zafar, who is the director general agriculture and biotechnology at the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission was declared ‘Scientist of the Year-2012’ for his pioneering work in the cotton biotechnology sector.

''Saving Face’' wins Oscar Award for best documentary short
“Saving Face” won the Oscar for documentary short at the 84th Academy Awards on Sunday.
The Daniel Junge and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy film follows British plastic surgeon Dr. Mohammad Jawad, who returns to his homeland (Pakistan) to help victims of acid burns. The film follows one woman as she fights to see that the perpetrators of the crime are imprisoned for life.
The documentary competed against “God Is the Bigger Elvis,” a Rebecca Cammisa and Julie Anderson film about a mid-century starlet who chose the church over Hollywood; “The Barber of Birmingham,” a Gail Dolgin and Robin Fryday film that follows the life of 85-year-old barber James Armstrong and the legacy of the civil rights movement; James Spione’s war film “Incident in New Baghdad”; and “The Tsunami and the Cherry Blossom,” a film by Lucy Walker and Kira Carstensen that follows survivors of Japan’s 2011 earthquake and their struggle to recover from the wave that crushed their homes and lives.

Pakistani Ahmed Amin makes world record in Martial Arts
Another Pakistani, Ahmed Amin Bodla has brought the fame for the country and set a Guiness Record by making 6,370 kicks in one hour on Wednesday.
The Pakistani Taekwondo expert has broken the previous record by Indian Jayanth Reddy who made 2,982 kicks in August 2011.
Amin had earlier set a record of the Most Martial Arts Kicks in one minute and after achieving the record he had said he had appetite to breaking the record of making most kicks during one year. And he has done the job today.
