Made In Pakistan: Devrim II

Pak-Wheelers is a group of eleven engineering students from National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) designed Pakistan's as well as Asia's first Hybrid Car which participated in the Shell Eco-marathon Asia in July 2010.

“Our car can reach the speed of 50 kilometers per hour with mileage of 110 kilometers per liter,” Muhammad Faizan Zafar, the Leader of Pak-Wheelers. This Car weighs 160 Kilogram, and 1.25 meters long. The inspired youth not only named their next version Devrim II but decided to use more than one prototype in the upcoming student engineering event Shell Eco-Marathon 2011 in Malaysia.
Despite its sleek design and attractive look, the car’s interior reflects resource constraints that the team worked under in order to realize their dream. The cockpit-style driver’s cabin is fitted with a homemade seat while, despite their best efforts, they were unable to purchase the material used for an aircraft bubble canopy. Thus, they had to use a different material and built their own canopy that serves their aerodynamic design needs, attaching it with duct tape.

Hassan Ali drove the car in July in Malaysia's Sepang F-1 Circut. Driving this made-in-garage car in front of thousands of Malaysians and multinational teams was the proudest moment of Ali’s life. 
The Pak-Wheelers are now in design phase two for improved prototypes of Devrim II, which will get twice as much mileage as the first prototype.
“Instead of a fiberglass body, this time we plan to have a carbon-fiber one, which is too expensive and impossible to get without external financial support. We want to improve the super-capacitors and replace the current motors with ones using less threshold voltage,” says Col. Ikhlaq Khattak the supervisor of this project. 

I pray for Pak-Wheelers to get success in their aims, and make Pakistan Proud. In the end i have a message for those who says that Pakistanis cant do anything, "Zara Namm ho to Ye Matti Bari Zarkhaiz Hai Saki........"
